I'm still debating on using the Trackmobile as motive power for the Factory Track on the layout. One drawback I was having with the BLI unit was its traction limits with pulling several boxcars. Anything over 60' in length caused the wheels to slip. I managed to add some additional weight to the unit. It can now pull two 50' without wheel slippage. Here's a video sample of the Trackmobile in action.

Cool track mobile. My question would be why would the cars at the factory need to be moved? It looks like there are multiple doors to access the cars.
ReplyDeleteThe building with the green doors will receive cars with supplies, and the larger building will be for shipping outbound loads of furniture. The Trackmobile will push empty cars from the receiving doors (green) to the shipping doors (taller building) to be loaded for outbound shipments. The Trackmobile would also pull the outbound cars from the factory and set them out on one of the yard tracks. Technically the move that occurred in the video wouldn't happen with my operating scheme. It was just to illustrate the pulling power of the Trackmobile after I installed the additional weight.
