I am creating the first industry on the layout with a mock up made with concrete/brick images printed on cardstock and mounted on foamcore board. A noticed a mistake with my initial mock up, but that will be an easy fix. I will test this arrangement and build the next section of this industry in the near future.
The mock up was created with textures from Clever Models (see photo for their website address on the CD). I will be using this same method (images on cardstock & foamcore) for the final version of this industry complex.

yep .. careful work and cardstock on foam can equal or even surpass other techniques
ReplyDeleteYou have certainly proven that, Ed!! My experience with this is trial and error. The good thing is it's only paper if you mess up. I'm going to incorporate other materials as well, like you illustrate on your website. I find this type of modeling challenging and fun! Thanks for the inspiration, Ed!

What are you using to glue the cardstock to the foamcore?
ReplyDeleteI used Elmer's Craft Bond glue stick applied liberally to the foamcore board. It takes a fair amount of glue from the glue stick to make a good bond.

Thanks, Tom.
DeleteYou're welcome, Philip!
DeleteIt's definitely easier and more cost effective than fitting in plastic buildings that may not come out as right.
ReplyDeleteWhat industries are you planning?
A furniture manufacturer (traditional wood/fabric and a plastics division), and a former freight house now being used as a public siding for offline industries.
